    Description

    WestCare, an international behavioral health organization, seeks candidates to fill current openings for Certified and Noncertified Substance Use Disorder Counselors at Sheridan Correctional Center, located in Sheridan, Illinois.

    Sheridan is easily accessible from Aurora, Joliet, Bolingbrook, Naperville, Oswego, DeKalb, Morris and surrounding areas.

    WestCare believes that the essential qualifications of staff providing treatment services include their ability to develop effective correctional counseling relationships, demonstrated by establishing high-quality, empathetic relationships with clients and modeling anti-criminal and pro-social expressions. WestCare’s counselors are selected for their ability to facilitate positive change in clients.

    WestCare will provide all new staff members with training to strengthen their ability to use motivational approaches and develop therapeutic relationships. Essential duties of the ocunselor include: Delivery of individual and group counseling services, preparation of individual needs assessment for each participant; and the preparation of a detailed specific services/treatment plan on each participant on his/her case load. Ongoing training will be provided to all staff to ensure optimum program operations.

    Requirements:

    Successfully pass an IDOC background check.

    High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's or master's degree is preferred.

    Clinical Certification, must:

    Hold LPC, LSW, LCPC, or LCSW

    Hold clinical certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor from the Illinois Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA), or

    Meet the requirements specified above within two years after the date of employment; and

    Not work in any supervisory capacity until such requirements are met; and

    Work under the direct, verifiable supervision of an individual who has staff supervisory responsibility at the facility and who meets the requirements above; and

    Sign, and adhere to, a professional code of ethics developed by the organization
