Rincon Family Services (RFS) is a not-for-profit community organization, established in 1972 to combat the epidemic of heroin and violence that were dismantling communities throughout Chicago. RFS is dedicated to rendering compassionate and effective programs that promote improved quality of life by serving as a catalyst to advocate, educate, and empower individuals and their families.
We are seeking a professional and motivated full-time Substance Abuse Counselor to join the Methadone Program.
The Substance Abuse Counselor works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team that provides therapeutic and rehabilitative services, counseling, case management and integrated dual-diagnostic treatment. The team works to address all treatment needs, including crisis management, substance abuse treatment, medication management, physical health treatment, mental health treatment, accessing benefits and entitlements, and other supportive services.
The Counselor carries the responsibility of adequately developing and maintaining a helpful and therapeutic relationship with the members of his/her caseload. Additionally, the Counselor must utilize to the greatest extent possible the internal and external referral resources available to RFS.
1. Bachelor’s in related field, minimum of high school degree with substance abuse experience may also be considered.
2. Certified with IAODAPCA CADC.
Work schedule: Monday – Friday (Two days from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, and the rest of the week from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm)
