    Description

    Caritas Central Intake, centrally located in Chicago at 140 N. Ashland in Chicago, is the longest continually operating central intake in the United States that addresses the problems of substance abusers. This position will be located at the Juvenile Court Building in Chicago on South Hamilton.
    Caritas has joined a collaborative effort with Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) called Juvenile Court Assessment Project. The purpose of this IV-E Waiver Project is to improve permanency outcomes for custodial parent(s) involved with DCFS who have lost temporary custody of their children.
    Caritas assessment counselors are Masters level certified and/or licensed counselors who work out in the community dealing with parents with involvement in Juvenile Court at 1100 S. Hamilton. They provide immediate alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) assessments and referrals to all DCFS clients, 18 years of age or older, assessing parents who have missed their temporary custody hearing.
    Caritas has an opening in the Juvenile court program, for an Assessor. Duties of the Assessor include;
    Immediate substance abuse assessments and referrals.
    Those assessed as needing treatment are randomly assigned to either a control group or a demonstration group
    The control group receives the existing alcohol/drug assessment and referral for admission for treatment services, where appropriate, through the OASA/DCFS Initiative. Every attempt is made to schedule the client for treatment services at the designated treatment provider, at the time of the assessment.
    In addition to the assessment and referral to substance abuse treatment services, the demonstration group receives a Recovery Coach who is employed by TASC to provide intensive alcohol other drug abuse and outreach and case management services.
    Requirements: Master's degree in psychology, social work, human services or related field required.
    CADC or licensure required plus experience in a substance abuse program preferred.
    Minimum of 2 years conducting AOD assessments.
    Candidate will be assessing adults 18 yr or older.
    Experience in the court system a plus.
