    Location:  Work from Home to start (Office in Crystal Lake, IL reopening in Spring 2021)

    Work Hours:  Part-Time (with the possible future growth to Full-Time)

    Position Summary: The Recovery Support Specialist utilizes personal experiences to facilitate and support the recovery of others and to help shape the mental health recovery system in McHenry County.  The RSS serves as the NAMI McHenry County liaison to community stakeholders and other network agencies and effectively collaborates to design and deliver a system of care that meets the behavioral healthcare needs of McHenry County and its residents.  As the leader in the recovery process, the RSS is aware of personal needs to maintain their own recovery. 

    Qualifications and Skills:                              

    Fluent & effective communication skills (written & oral) in English, Spanish a plus

    High School Diploma or higher

    Personal experience in recovery from mental health and living well in recovery for at least a minimum one year is required

    Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential status is currently active or able to be obtained within one (1) year of employment

    Minimum of one-year experience working within the human services field and case management experience

    Working knowledge of the Illinois/McHenry County system of care, including Medicaid and Medicare services, social services, and options for individuals with no healthcare coverage

    Ability to work independently in an organized, efficient, and productive manner

    Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook

    Capacity to multitask and complete projects collaboratively with team members

    To work from home;

    Must have reliable internet service, secure storage of computer equipment and be able to provide wellness, recovery education and emotional support by telephone or zoom for diverse populations in a private location (HIPAA Compliant space) to ensure confidentiality of callers

    Some Essential Duties Include:

    Provide wellness and recovery education and emotional support by telephone or zoom for diverse populations of McHenry County in a private location to ensure the confidentiality of the caller (HIPAA Compliant space)

    Use person-centered, strength-based, culturally and trauma-informed approaches to empower individuals to define and pursue their own recovery and wellness goals

    Promote recovery, resiliency, and hope by effectively sharing wellness and recovery experience with individuals, families, and professionals

    Connect callers with resources and provide education on self-advocacy and shared/supported decision making

    Display recovery-focused attributes in interactions with others both internally within the company and externally with clients, providers, and community members

    Apply conversational and professional de-escalation techniques comfortably, seeking support when needed to determine warm transfers and interventions

    Demonstrate competency in the domains of the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential and comply with its code of ethics (pre and post certification)
