The Illinois Association for Medication Assisted Addiction Treatment (IAMAAT) is pleased to announce a professional credential established for individuals providing services in the medication assisted addiction treatment (MAAT) field.
Medication Assisted Addiction Treatment Professional (MAATP)The MAATP Board Registration is intended to be utilized by professionals working in a variety of settings, using various treatment approaches and serving a wide range of patient populations in the MAAT field.IAMAAT measures competency through the 14 Core Functions of the MAATP: Admissions Screening Intake Orientation Assessment Treatment Planning MAAT Case Management Crisis Intervention Patient Education Referral Reports and Record Keeping Consultation with Other Professionals Attitudes Towards MAAT Populations Roles, Boundaries and Professional Relationship Dynamics Health and Safety Persons applying for this credential must provide documentation of the required work experience and adhere to the MAATP Code of Ethics. The MAATP Board Registration was developed to guarantee that quality service is available to the MAAT patient. Beginning March 15, 2008, qualified professionals may apply for the Board Registered Medication Assisted Addiction Treatment Professional (MAATP) credential. A 90-day Granting of Equivalency Period will be offered from March 15, 2008 through June 15, 2008. During that time, the fee covering both the application and the initial biennial registration fee will be $75.00. No examination will be required of applicants during this period. Effective June 16, 2008, successful completion of the written examination is required for this credential. The fee for the application, examination and initial biennial registration fee will then be $320.00. There will be no exceptions to the Granting of Equivalency Period.
