 Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) How to Become a Substance Abuse Professional
The Home Study Course is worth 12 CEU credits from IAODAPCA at a cost of $10 per CEU hour ($120). These 12 hours can also be used toward your first recertification requirement with DOT. The Course and Post-Test can be emailed to you at no additional charge - if you require that IAODAPCA mail you a hard copy, there is an additional $10 fee. 1-A. Send an email to dianne@iaodapca.org with your credit card number, expiration date, name listed on the credit card, and billing address. $120 will be charged to your credit card for the Home Study Course. Once the credit card charge has cleared you will be emailed the Home Study Course. 1-B. Mail a check for $130 to: DOT-SAP Home Study Course, IAODAPCA, 401 E. Sangamon Ave. Springfield, IL 62702 and a hard copy of the materials will be mailed to you. 1-C. Mail your credit card number, expiration date, name listed on the credit card, and billing address and $120 will be charged to your credit card for the Home Study Course. Once the credit card charge has cleared you will be emailed the Home Study Course. 2. After you have read the materials and feel prepared, then take the Post-Test. Return the Post-Test to IAODAPCA for scoring. 3-A. If you pass, you will be mailed a certificate of completion good for 12 CEUs and advancement to take the national certification exam. 3-B. If you fail the Post-Test, you will be notified by IAODAPCA and allowed to retest for a $30 fee. Once you have read the Home Study Course, you will need to pass the SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROFESSIONAL Home Study Course Post-Test. This Post-Test verifies that you comprehend the Home Study Course materials. This IS NOT THE NATIONAL CERTIFICATION EXAM. Once you pass the Post-Test, you will be sent a certificate of completion from IAODAPCA and are then eligible to sit for the national certification exam that is now available through IAODAPCA. Should you want to sit for the SAP exam, please send a written request, proof of completion of the home study course and proof of reciprocity or licensure as required for SAP certification. Once your request is received you will be contacted with information of the next available exam. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE POST TEST YOU MUST TAKE AT THE END OF READING THE HOME STUDY COURSE, IS ONLY TO VERIFY THAT YOU COMPREHEND THE MATERIALS - IT IS NOT THE NATIONAL CERTIFICATION EXAM - IF THIS IS UNCLEAR TO YOU, PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS PRIOR TO BEGINNING THE PROCESS.
