Counselors of Problem and Compulsive Gambling Certification (PCGC) Education Hours of education should include content on the following as they relate to both adults and juveniles: Client, Family, and Community Education Intake and Assessment Counseling Case Management Professional Responsibility Suggested Education Sources Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTCs) Community Colleges Colleges & Universities IAODAPCA Accredited Training Programs State Alcohol & Drug Abuse Agencies Other Training Pre?approved by State Alcohol & Drug Abuse Certification Agencies Continuing Education Biennially, in addition to payment of the appropriate annual maintenance fee, the PCGC will provide evidence of completion of 40 clock hours of continuing education. Of these 40 hours, 15 must be gambling specific (Category I) and 25 must be training in knowledge and skills related to the 5 performance domains (Category II) of the "'Counselors of Problem Gamblers, Role Delineation Study"! prepared by Columbia Assessment Services, Inc., January 1999. Each certified professional is responsible for maintaining and submitting documentation on the required continuing education form. If you are licensed you must submit 10 CEUs (Category I gambling specific) and proof of current licensure. If you are an IAODAPCA Certified AODA Counselor you must submit 10 CEUs (Category I - gambling specific) and proof of current IAODAPCA certification. Extensions A 30-day extension up to six (6) months may be granted. Extensions are calculated from the date of expiration of the certification. Extension requests including specific reasoning and the annual maintenance fee and extension fee, in the amount of $10 per month must be submitted, in writing to IAODAPCA.
