- Certification increases professionalism of the alcohol and other drug abuse field.
- Employers use the credential as a basis for advancement, and request or require certification upon employment.
- Certified counselors receive the IAODAPCA Newsletter, an informative quarterly publication available only to those addiction professionals certified by IAODAPCA.
- Certified counselors have the freedom to move to another state withinthe International Certification Reciprocity Consortium and automaticallybe granted that state’s credential via reciprocity.
- Recourse for the client who may have an ethics complaint against a certified professional.
