Illinois Certification Board Hires New Executive Director
Long-time human services advocate hired to lead association.
The Illinois Certification Board (ICB), Board of Directors has hired Chris Boyster as the next Executive Director beginning on May 16, 2022. Boyster will succeed long serving Executive Director Jessica Hayes who will officially retire on June 17, 2022. Boyster comes to ICB after serving nearly 5 years with the Illinois Collaboration on Youth (ICOY), a professional trade association of youth service and child welfare providers. Prior to joining ICOY, Boyster served in the administration of two previous governors serving as the legislative director of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Aging and Human Rights. Boyster has over 20 plus years of experience working for both the state of Illinois and not-for-profit associations and has held numerous leadership positions managing staff, working with policy makers, and not-for-profit boards. “I am excited to be able to be a part of this great organization. ICB has a stellar reputation in the human service field. I know the great value that ICB brings to those being treated for substance abuse and other behavioral needs by ensuring that the human service professionals that serve them have competency-based credentials and continued education and training. I look forward to working with ICB’s Board of Directors and staff to build upon our success and meet any challenges moving forward. I am both humbled and honored for this opportunity.” Boyster has a B.A. from Eastern Illinois University and an A.A. from Southwestern Illinois College.
