In the Know – Blogging by Executive Director Jessica Hayes

There is so much going on in our great Field that I truly don’t know where to start! So… let’s just go down the calendar! July 1st finds Kellie Gage, CAADC, at the helm of the Illinois Certification Board’s Board of Directors; serving as President for the next two years. A huge welcome to her and the rest of the Executive Committee; Stella Nicholson, President Elect, Larry Dunbar, Secretary, Joseph Troiani, Treasurer and Valerie Arnett, Past President. We said goodbye to John Reese, Armando Reyes, Patricia Houlihan and Dan Lustig as their terms expired – each have agreed to stay on as part of the newly formed advisory committees made possible by our  new By Laws, we are very thankful to them for their continued relationship with the board!

On July 12th ICB will host a training by renowned international speaker Mark Sanders – you are NOT going to want to miss this so contact our office today and get the details! Limited seating! July 12th is also an amazing day at SWI Correctional Center as another class of CAAP professionals will graduate; moving on to do great things in this Field. Congratulations to the participants and to all who made this possible.

Robert Carty will be the Key Note Speaker on September 12, 2012 at the Illinois Specialty Courts Conference. Mr. Carty is one of our Professional of the Year honorees and we are fortunate he continues to share his experience and knowledge with this Field. This conference is a blend of the Illinois Association of Drug Court Professionals (IADCP) and the Mental Health Court Association of Illinois (MHCAI). Please contact Lauri Remsen at [email protected]  or 815-319-4805 with questions regarding registration.

The ICB Fall Conference planning is well underway – the dates for the Fall Conference are October 22-26, 2012. It will be held at Rend Lake Resort and Conference Center and is shaping up to be one of the best yet!  Registration is limited so be sure to check back frequently on our webpage for the registration information!

I have just been informed Director David Mineta, ONDCP, will be a Featured Speaker at the IC&RC second annual conference to be held in Minnesota in October. I have posted information on our Facebook page about the event and a link as well. The link will also be available on our website under ‘Links’. Director Mineta will speak to “The Treatment Workforce: A Federal Perspective”. I will definitely be present to hear about the Federal Perspective and will bring back information to you all.

Have a Great Fourth of July –

Jessica
